DECORATIVE CERAMICS
Contemporary raku firing is a low temperature firing technique that involves removing ceramic pieces from the kiln while still hot, placing in a container of combustible materials, and then quickly cooling the pieces by immersing, or spraying with water—combining earth, fire, and water to create a variety of surface effects.
Raku fired ceramics are intended for decorative purposes only and despite their functional forms are not meant to hold food or liquids.
